VETRINE launches Entre-Fashion Contest

Portugal,  Spain, Bulgaria and Greece mobilize learners and mentors for the European VETRINE Entre-Fashion contest.

As part of the European VETRINE project, partners ATP – Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, Chimar (Greece) Pirintex  (Bulgaria) and Texfor – Confederation of the Textile Industry (Spain), are mobilizing students and companies to participate in the VETRINE Entre-Fashion contest, which invites trainees of various ages to develop sustainable fashion or accessory items with the support of mentors from the industry.

“We want to ensure that Portugal has a strong and worthy presence in this initiative, reflecting our leadership in sustainable fashion,” says Ana Paula Dinis, Director General of ATP, the partner in charge of this part of the project.

The Entre-Fashion process is being launched during two weeks bridging April and May and will bring together graduates of VETRINE’s Capacity Building Programme “Green VETRINE”, VET institution teachers, and companies in the sector who are willing to guide the participants as mentors. The Entre-Fashion process is a straightforward one for the mentors in that it involves just one monthly feedback moment over eight months. Graduates have the opportunity to create a textile-based object or collection that put into practise what they learned in the course.

This initiative involves four European countries and will show how future designers can successfully combine creativity, sustainability, and market orientation. At the end of the process, there will be a public vote to select the best sustainable products coming out of this innovative program. The best items will be displayed at the project’s final conference, and three winners selected to present their work in person.
